Get TiVo. Just do it. Don't whine about how the DVRs from the cable company are free. Don't argue that they have bigger hard drives.  If you like TV, you'll step up to TiVo. Think of it this way: A lot of the phones offered by wireless carriers are free, but you still bought an iPhone (or at least an Android), right? Why? The difference between that junky Nokia and an addiction-inducing iPhone 4 is the same as the difference between a stock Comcast box and a new TiVo: the interface. There are exactly three companies in this world that are truly great at interface design — Apple, Google, and TiVo.

In fact, using and navigating TiVo is a little like playing with an iPhone or checking Gmail — the act is simply a pleasure. Other DVRs are frustrating and clunky; TiVo is elegant and smart. And it does everything: It handles Netflix Instant, Amazon On Demand, and Blockbuster on Demand: lets you surf videos from sites like YouTube; acts as your cable box and pulls in over-the-air signals; hosts and streams music.  Even the sounds TiVo makes are satisfying to the soul (bloop-bloop!). There are few products you can truly love. TiVo is one of them. See full review

TiVo newbies — those who have suffered with "generic" DVRs from their cable providers and are coming to a real TiVo for the first time — will find themselves getting an all-in-one digital box that's an easy-to-use and elegant gateway to a wide range of TV and online video and audio entertainment. …I can highly recommend TiVo Premiere to anyone fed up with the sorry functionality of their cable DVR, especially those who make use of Web services like Netflix or Amazon Video on Demand. It's a small price to pay for a vastly better TV-watching experience. See full review

Easy and great

- Happy Tivo lady, February 2012

I love my Tivo premiere XL. It is SO easy to find the shows I want to see and to find my shows in alternate times. There is lots of storage for shows I want to save, and my most favorite thing is that there is Tivo support, both on line and by phone if I should ever need it.

Awesome!!!!

- qdm4u, February 2012

I have been enjoying it every minute, I love being able to watch something on netflix or hulu that I was searching for on cable if it is available there. I thought I didn't need dual tuners but I have had two shows recording since I got it almost every night. I know I have just scratched the surface with the premiere box but so far it's a very awesome surface!!!

You Are in Control

- Diane F, February 2012

My Tivo Premiere gives me complete control of my television viewing. I watch what I want, when I want. It is so user friendly and versatile. I am able to order and view movies from many sources and even access data from my computer and view it on my television. I love that I can control everything with my Tivo remote. My Tivo Premiere is wonderful and includes the best customer service and support!

A Versatile Tool

- RichPalmer, February 2012

The Tivo box has opened up new options that we've never had with a traditional cable DVR. The opportunity to search for shows by name, the ability to bring in shows on Hulu, Netflix and other services, and the ability to rank shows by importance are all great options.

Best video recorder

- Lore Kimbrough, March 2012

I do love TIVO. I've tried regular DVR's and find that TIVO has more options. The menu makes it easy to navigate. The added feature of streaming videos from multiple sources is icing on the cake. Bravo to TIVO for hitting this out of the park.

Best Model Yet

- Veronica, March 2012

I love the way it organizes the shows you record. I love access to Netflix better than on the wii. I like Youtube and Pandora. This has lots more room for shows. I love this model!
