How to stream music from your Mac to your TiVo® DVR
Use the TiVo Desktop software to stream your MP3 music library from your Mac to your network-connected TiVo DVR.
Publishing music with TiVo Desktop
Publishing your music means making MP3 files available over your home network to your TiVo DVR. Publishing does not copy music files to your DVR, so published music does not use any of your DVR’s recording space. To publish a playlist or folder of music:
- Show the steps

From the Apple menu, click “System Preferences.”

Under “Other,” click “TiVo Desktop.”

Click “Start” to begin publishing content.

Click the “Music” tab, then click “Publish My Music.”
- To publish all of your iTunes library, select “Publish My Entire iTunes Library.”
- To publish only some of your playlists, select “Publish Only These Playlists,” and then select each playlist you want to publish.
Note: TiVo Desktop works with music in the MP3 format and playlists created using iTunes. AAC files and songs purchased from the iTunes store are not playable on the TiVo DVR.
Streaming music on your TiVo DVR
To listen to music on the TiVo DVR:
- Show the steps

Go to ‘TiVo Central’ > ‘Music, Photos, Products & More’.

Select your music on your computer. (Your selection may vary depending on how your computer is named.)

You will see any playlists or folders that you have published. Highlight one and press PLAY. In a few seconds, music starts playing. After the first song ends, the second song in the playlist or folder begins.
